Ohai! You’re an inquisitive one aren’t you?
About Me
My name is Aditya Sengupta. I was born 22 years ago in erstwhile Bombay. I grew up in Aurangabad, Sharjah and Mumbai. I survive mostly on Coffee. I can move my ears. Ok. TMI.
At some point or the other, I’ve wanted to be a neurosurgeon, a journalist, an “astrew-nut” (age 5 or thereabouts), a quantum physicist, a programmer and a race car driver.
I’m an recent alumnus of Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute and a not so recent alumnus of Jai Hind College. I am currently pursuing a research fellowship at IIT Bombay. In my spare time, I’m involved with community events like Barcamp and automation/alumni related projects at VJTI.
I enjoy electrical engineering, physics, am a control systems and robotics enthusiast, quizzer, news junkie, open source software fan and generally a technophile. I love writing, photography, computers, gadgets and blogging. I like simplicity. I enjoy textual gymnastics. The internet in general, and social media in particular amazes me. Cold coffee is my elixir. I don’t have a plan and I love it that way.

About this blog
I get asked this a lot- What does vignetting mean?
Here’s the meaning courtesy the Free Dictionary:
Vignette (vi·gnette )
n.
1. A decorative design placed at the beginning or end of a book or chapter of a book or along the border of a page.
2. An unbordered picture, often a portrait, that shades off into the surrounding color at the edges.
3.
a. A short, usually descriptive literary sketch.
b. A short scene or incident, as from a movie.
tr.v. vi·gnet·ted, vi·gnet·ting, vi·gnettes
1. To soften the edges of (a picture) in vignette style.
2. To describe in a brief way.
[French, from Old French, diminutive of vigne, vine (from the use of vine tendrils in decorative borders); see vine.]
It’s been a while since I began blogging. I used to blog at My Easel. About six months in, I had to stop blogging since I had a number of other commitments that took up a lot of my time. I had always meant to get back- which is one of the reasons I started this site.
Why have a full fledged website? Well, having a self-hosted blog as against a free blog does give one certain freedoms that I hope to take advantage of over time. Another reason is what one learns in the process- And with the experience I’ve had after having started the blog, I can assure you that the learning curve is fairly steep- though immensely rewarding.
With this explanation, I guess the name of the blog pretty much explains what it’s about. I’ll try my best to ensure that you have something interesting to read while you’re here. But there will often be periods of time when I won’t be able to write for a while. That usually means I’m busy with something else. Do check in though. In the meanwhile, you could check out my shared items and posterous. You could subscribe to the blog via a feed aggregator, or via email using the box on the sidebar.
Constructive suggestions/comments/criticisms are both welcome and appreciated on this blog. Leave a comment, or get in touch with me personally at feed… @vignettinglife.com.
